GIFT GUIDE COUNTDOWN #1 SIDESHOW Darth Vader Life-Size Bust
I'm starting out the gift guide this ear with the big daddy- literally. Do you want someone to owe you for the rest of their life? Proof that you are the world's biggest geek? Something that will literally take the breath away from whoever receives it?
Oh honey....honey.
I purchased this and haven't had a single moment of regret. I have , however, had any number of people literally stand speechless before it. The most expensive item in this years countdown is worth way more than you'll pay for it. Ladies and moisture farmers I present Sideshow Collectibles Life-size Darth Vader Bust.
The first thing people notice when they see this is the sheer size. Standing 28Hx24Wx16D this bust may be the single most regal Darth Vader anything ever made. The only thing that keeps me from bowing down before it is my utter loathing for the dark side.
There are three separate ways to display this bust. One employs the full helmet with face-mask. The other involves the face-mask only. The third replaces the other two pieces with a beautiful full head portrait of Vader's scarred visage as it appeared at the end of Return of the Jedi.
Every single method of display has substantial charms. The full helmet, as mentioned, is indescribably gorgeous, regal. I had always thought that Vader's famous outerwear was all black but up close you can see that the shades alternate. In addition some parts are matte finish and others hi-gloss.
The face mask version is best displayed on a rotating base since the inside of the mask is wonderfully detailed with all the circuitry and wiring used to keep Annakin alive.
Lastly we have the deeply scarred full head portrait of ROTJ Annakin. This absolutely spot on vinyl bust of actor Sebastion Shaw sets into the bust via a strong magnet and once in place the effect is very unsettling.
Materials utilized here are far ranging and include fiberglass, polystone, fabric and metal. If you can find the exclusive version it comes with a stand that the helmet and mask can be displayed on while the human portrait is in place. If not you'll want to take extra care. The helmet itself is incredibly heavy. Some people have commented on the lack of a breathing audio feature but to be honest I think it would cheapen the piece. This is a work of art that any Star Wars fan would simply die to own
However you choose to display this do so carefully. The resale on this once it has sold out is going to shoot insanely high over the next few years. Personally I would starve before I sold this, though. Who's yer daddy takes on a whole new meaning if someone unwraps this bad boy.
