I've been trying to find new info on interesting genre goings-on in India without much luck apart from
Enthiran and
Hisss, but in the process I stumbled across this trailer. It is for a film called
Va Quarter Cutting, the meaning of which I'm not really sure, but the trailer looks really fun! From what I can tell, this is directed by a pair called Pushkar and Gayatri, and it follows the events occurring in one man's life between 6:30 PM and 6:30 AM. Not an unfamiliar story, in fact, it is a very common story, but the filming style on this one looks pretty unusual for an Indian film. The cinematography and editing are very kinetic, I'd be interested to see if they can keep that kind of pace for three entire hours, I think that would make the time fly by. I can't find any translations for this, but It speaks for itself, I think. I'm going to give it a shot.
Oh, and to play 6 degrees of Fantastic Fest, the film's directors last had a big hit with a film called
Oram Po (which I haven't seen), which was a breakout role for Tamil star Arya, who also plays the lead in
Naan Kadavul, which is featured at Fantastic Fest.
