CJ7: And The New Box-Office Champ Is An Alien Dog ...

At the rate CJ7 is going, raking up the dough at the box-office, Stephen Chow could probably take another five years to make his next film. His latest sci-fi comedy made box-office history in both Malaysia and Singapore.

Buena Vista Malaysia, while declining to reveal the numbers just yet, confirmed that CJ7 had the biggest ever opening weekend in Malaysia. The movie played to packed houses despite it being the Chinese New Year holidays. Singapore's Today reported that CJ7 broke the box-office record there as well, bringing in a staggering S$2 million during its opening weekend. This tops the previous record of S$1.9 million held by Kung Fu Hustle. CJ7 beat out its main competition, Kung Fu Dunk, in both countries.

Looks like Jay Chou's basketball whiz has been left in the dust by the alien dog.
