Right. This hasn't appeared at Darkdreams.org (my usual source for Argento news, the best Argento site there it), and it's floating around English and Japanese anime sites now.

Must admit, I spotted this in the AICN Anime News section, then noticed it had been drifting around for the past few days or so. Intrigued by this one, it's one of my favourite films, the classic often named directly by John Carpenter as inspiration for 'Halloween' and indirectly inspiring Horror as a genre in numerous ways as well as film in general. I've been watching anime on and off for close to twenty years or more - well, most off, but as you'll know if you visit regularly I can't avoid but keep looking for something substantial - and I've been watching Argento movies for about as long, so wonder what the mix could bring?

Another thing which has me thinking is that 'Deep Red' was sold as 'Suspiria 2' in Japan, though they're unconnected.

Here's the staff details for this newly-announced series (or movie?) based on 'Suspiria' : Director: Yoshimasa Hiraike ('Solty Rei'), Series Editor: Kazuho Hyodo, Screenplay: Kazuho Hyodo, Toshirou Ishidou, Original Character, Design: Nariko Enomoto, Character Design/Supervising Animation Director: Toshiharu Murata.
