It may not sound like much, but it's interesting because both Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away were record breaking films: the biggest at the time in Japan's history.

Animenewsnetwork reports that this time around, Ghiblis' "Howls Moving Castle" will be opening on 450 screens (out of the 2700 available in the country). Mononoke had 348 screens, and Spirited Away 336 screens when they opened. So Howls should be a pretty big smash hit to say the least...

The film is released on the 21st November 2004. I will be interested to see the opening weekend figures in relation to the two previous Ghibli releases in the Cinema.
