Cinepocalypse 2019: From Danzig and Ironside to BLISS And SATANIC PANIC, Chi-town Genre Fest Has it All!
Our friends at Cinepocalypse, the Summer time genre festival in Chicago, is announcing their lineup for their third edtion. If their mandate is to have a little something for everyone then looking over this year's lineup is Achievement Unlocked.
From the land of Hollywood director Joel Schumacher is in town to present screenings of Falling Down and Flatliners. Genre icon Michael Ironside will be in town to accept an achievement award and present a screening of Total Recall, the good one. And kind of Hollywood but still hosted by our friend, indie actor and director Graham Skipper is bringing his brand of partying, Rated R, to the festival with a Child's Play themed speakeasy for a soundtrack release party for Jenn Wexler's The Ranger.
From the indie horror side you have new films from Joe Begos (Bliss) and Lucky McKee (Kindred Spirits) but what is most exciting of all is the directorial debut of Verotika from Glenn Danzig.
Then they have a bunch of bad ass films coming from some bad ass ladies. Gigi Saul Gurrero's Culture Shock, her contrbution to Blumhouse and Hulu's Into the Dark series. Chelsea Stardust's Satanic Panic, Caryn Waecther's Deadcon, Veronika Franz & Severin Fiala’s The Lodge and Pollyanna McIntosh's Darlin' are all coming to the festival.
Finally, from far shores come films like Talal Selhami’s Morrocan monster horror Achoura, Emilio Portes’ demonic border-set Belzebuth, Fabrício Bittar’s horror-comedy Ghost Killers vs. Bloody Mary, Polish pagan flick The Mute, from director Bartosz Konopka, and Daniel de la Vega's black-and-white Noir homage Punta Muerto.
All this and we haven't even reminded you that fucking Gwar is coming to town!
We've put all the major anouncements and categories into a lovely gallery below. We would be so pleased if you were to peruse it.
