DÉDALO: Watch The Portuguese Sci-Fi Short, A Love Letter To 1979
Now that Jerónimo Rocha's sci-fi horror short film Dédalo has completed it's festival run (30 international festivals all over the world and broadcasted on national television on 3 different channels) it is time to share it with the masses. My my, this is a treat.
We would be gobsmacked if Ridley Scott's 1979 flick Alien did not play a part in the creation of Dédalo. Gobsmacked we tells ya! And really, when the results are this fantastic, who can even gripe about it? Everything about it screams Alien. The lone female protagonist. The industrial backdrop. The lighting. The dripping water. The creature design, though it would appear functionally limited, is creepy as all get out. Hell, they even built a model of the refinery ship and did that opening shot partially with practical effects.
We tip our hats to you Sehnor Rocha.
Word from the production company Take It Easy Films is that they are continuing to work with Rocha to develop Dédalo into a feature film and a web series. We can hardly wait to see this expanded universe of theirs.
