COLD WAR 2: First Trailer Promises More Glossy Thrills

Chow Yun Fat joins the original cast of Hong Kong thriller Cold War - the highest grossing HK film of 2012 - for the upcoming Cold War 2. And this is one sequel that appears to be holding to the 'same but more' theory of sequels with the entire creative team back in place along with the original cast. And while this first trailer exists mostly to whet the appetite there's still plenty here to promise plenty of slick. glossy action within.

Tony Leung Ka-fai, Aaron Kwok, Charlie Young, Eddie Peng and Aarif Rahman make up the rest of the core cast of the cop thriller with directors Longman Leung and Sunny Luk retunring. Check out the trailer - with English subtitles included - below.

Looking good, keeping an eye on this one.

It'll be nice to see Chow Yun-Fat in something other than those God-awful FROM VEGAS TO MACAU movies. I was as thrilled as anybody to see him return to populist HK films after so many years in Mainland costume epics, but those movies are far beneath him. Even though he does act his ass off in them and gets as goofy as Jing's crap usually requires.

I guess it's too much to expect him and Woo to ever work together again, but it's nice to see him still work with a master like Johnnie To.

But, come on, who doesn't want to see Chow do one more bullet ballet? Kind of like his HIGH NOON or UNFORGIVEN; a movie that brings the full force of his legacy together into one defining late-in-life role.

Well, most trailers exist mostly to whet the appetite... This looks quite fun. I didn't really like the first one, but it was entertaining enough and the star power on hand made it more compelling. This looks like it will be no different, and I like how they reversed Andy Lau's "extreme measures" sentence of the first one with Chow Yun Fat here.
