Shaw Brothers Star Kara Hui Returns To Action As Ho Yuhang's MRS K

Iconic Shaw Brothers star Kara Hui - who first starred for the studio in 1976 effort Dirty Ho before launching on to a long and celebrated career - returns to the action genre that made her name with the now-in-production Mrs K, a Malaysia-Hong Kong co-production directed by Ho Yuhang.

Though Hui's work in recent years has been more in the dramatic realm she demonstrated with 2011 PEter Chan directed effort Wu Xia - released in the US as Dragon - that she's still got what it takes to deliver the martial arts goods on screen and she'll be given ample opportunity to do so, taking the lead role here. Kuala Lumpur, 8 December 2015 - Shooting has commenced for Mrs K, an action film directed by Ho Yuhang and produced by Lina Tan of Red Films and Lorna Tee of Paperheart while the investors for the film are Sonneratia Capital (Malaysia) and Emperor Motion Pictures (Hong Kong).

Mike Lake, Group Managing Director of Sonneratia Capital said , "We are excited to be in business with Lina and the talented team at Red Films on "Mrs K" this is the first film in a slate of films that we will be co-financing with them over the next few years."

Albert Lee, CEO of Emperor Motion Pictures commented that "We are very happy to be working with director Ho Yuhang and the amazing cast and crew on MRS K.  Yuhang is a talented director who has already made some exciting films.  We are confident that he will be breaking more new grounds with this new project."

The film stars Kara Wai Ying Hung as Mrs K, together with Hong Kong's film star, Simon Yam Tat Wah as the main villain, Taiwanese rock star, Wu Bai, as Mr K , and Malaysian award winning actor, Faizal Hussein. The film also features newcomer Siow Li Xuan as Lil' K, the daughter of Mrs K. Other supporting roles features veteran action actor, Lau Wing, Malaysian film director Dain Said and Hong Kong directors, Fruit Chan and Kirk Wong Chi Keung."

Mrs K is a story of a woman who gives everything that she has to protect her husband and daughter when enemies from her past come hunting her. 

Ho Yuhang first developed the film idea after working with Kara Wai Ying Hung in the award winning, AT THE END OF DAYBREAK, which garnered 7 Best Actress award for her. Kara Wai Ying Hung has acted in more 135 films in her career and was a top female action star during the Shaw Brothers golden days of film production.

The film is one of the more exceptional coproduction's where the cast and crew comes from Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The film is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2016. The film is repped by Emperor Motion Pictures for world sales.
