Exclusive: Gravitas Ventures Moves In With THE INHABITANTS For North American Release
It's August. The last vestiges of summer are upon us. But for those of us that revel in crisp, fall leaves crunching beneath our shoes, Halloween, and pumpkin-flavored anything, we can look forward to several horror film releases coming up in October, one of which is the creepy film from the writers of John Carpenter's The Ward, The Inhabitants. Check out the trailer in my original post about this project here. The film also sports a new poster, shown here. What do you think?

In an exclusive for ScreenAnarchy, I've just been told that Gravitas Ventures will be releasing this supernatural thriller on October 13 on video on demand (VOD). The film will air on multiple VOD platforms including iTunes, Amazon Video, Vudu, Google Play, Xbox LIVE, Sony Playstation, and various cable providers. Rassmussen fans can pre-order the film on iTunes now, however.

"We're very excited to be working with Gravitas to get this film released," said Shawn Rasmussen. "We think it's scary as hell with terrific performances from Elise Couture Stone and Michael Reed, and a fabulous, haunting score. And I personally can't think of a better month than October to get it out there." Agreed. Hurry up, October. I need your horror films pumping terror into my eyes and filtering directly into my little black heart.

From the press release:

Written and directed by Michael and Shawn Rasmussen, screenwriters of JOHN CARPENTER'S THE WARD and produced by international bestselling author Glenn Cooper, THE INHABITANTS revolves around a young couple that gets more than they bargained for when they renovate a neglected bed and breakfast in New England. After a series of disturbing events, the husband begins to suspect that something evil is lurking within the walls of this old house, and whatever it is has set its sights on his wife. Now he must fight to uncover the inn's dark secret before this malicious spirit consumes everything he loves.

THE INHABITANTS was filmed on location inside one of the oldest houses in New England which was home to the Salem Witch Trial children. The Noyes-Parris House (c. 1669) was owned by the infamous Rev. Samuel Parris who was the father of Betty Parris and uncle to Abigail Williams, the two girls who made the initial accusations that led to the tragic witch trials that took place in Salem, Massachusetts.
