Jason Segel Is Making LEGO Spin-Off THE BILLION BRICK RACE
While I'm sure there are detractors of the Brick out there, I'm not one of them, and can proudly say I've been a LEGO builder for life. I was tickled pink by Phil Lord & Chris Miller's The LEGO Movie last year. Since so many folks out there were, too (getting the brick pic to a whopping $469 mil worldwide), there are, love 'em or leave 'em, gonna be more LEGO movies.
In addition to Ninjago for 2016, the LEGO Batman film for 2017, and The LEGO Movie 2 for 2018, THR's Heat Vision blog drops the news that Forgetting Sarah Marshall scribe and star Jason Segel, and Iron Man 3 scribe Drew Pearce, will not only co-write, but co-direct The Billion Brick Race.
With a title like that (and Pearce's action creds extending to Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation), a part of me thinks this is gonna be a kid friendly LEGO-ised Fast And Furious, which I am absolutely okay with. Another part of me hopes that with Segel on board (who helped revitalize the Muppets a few years back), the project will mirror more of the Wacky Races cartoons... or perhaps Cannonball Run... or better yet It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.
Only time, and a whole lotta real and digital bricks, will tell.
