Exclusive! Mondo Macabro To Bring German Cult Thriller DER FAN To Blu-ray In 2015
We at ScreenAnarchy have long been fans of cult home video label Mondo Macabro, and they give us good reason once again with their latest acquisition. Mondo Macabro have given ScreenAnarchy the exclusive news and specs for their upcoming release of German thriller Der Fan (The Fan) on Blu-ray, scheduled for release in early 2015.

The film, starring Desiree Nosbusch as the titular character, revolves around a teenaged fan of popular musician "R". Simone (Nosbusch) is not just any fan, but a cracked and broken woman who focuses her deranged obsession upon this unknowing target, who inspires a lust for violence that earned the film a rabid cult following. Sadly, Der Fan has been unavailable in the US since the beginning of the digital age. Leave it to Mondo Macabro to bring this underseen gem to home video in a stunning new Blu-ray to introduce it to a new audience.

This brand new Blu-ray will feature the original German and English audio with English subtitles, new transfer from the original negative, and an interview with director Eckhart Schmidt. Mondo Macabro only recently made the jump to Blu-ray, but their work so far has been incredible, even going back to their last few releases on DVD, so I'm really looking forward to seeing this new transfer. If American film fans have been able to see this film at all, it has been through piss-poor bootlegs for the most part, so this should be a revelatory release in more than one area. Der Fan will be available on Region A Blu-ray from Mondo Macabro in early 2015.

Check out the trailer below, but be aware, it gets NSFW in the last minute or so.

DER FAN has just gotten Blu-ray release in Germany (with an English audio track but no subtitles), so I assume Mondo Macabro will use the same transfer.
