Radius-TWC Nabs North American Rights For THE NIGHT COMES FOR US
Terrific news for fans of action cinema coming out of Indonesia. Radius-TWC, the boutique label of The Weintstein Company, have bought the right for Timo Tjahjanto's The Night Comes For Us, starring The Raid: Redemption alumnus Joe Taslim and Yayan Ruhian. The deal was negotiated by Radius' Tom Quinn and Jason Janego and XYZ Films' Nate Bolotin and Nick Spicer.
This crime thriller centers around a mobster (Taslim) who returns to his local crime family in Jakarta only to find himself trapped in a word of betrayal and chaos.
According to RADiUS co-presidents Tom Quinn and Jason Janego: "Timo and Gareth are leading the way for a whole new generation of genre directors. We're big fans of theirs and couldn't be more excited to come aboard early."XYZ Films goes on to say: "We are thrilled to collaborate with RADiUS on what we believe will be the next chapter in action film from Indonesia. Tom and Jason's genuine passion for the genre and support of the filmmaking team's vision is precisely what we are looking for in a North American distribution partner.
The film also involves other Raid alumnus. Gareth Huw Evans will handle production and action direction and Iko Uwais is the action choreographer. Evans is producing along with his partner (literally) Maya Barack Evans for PT Merantau Films. Nate Bolotin, Aram Tertzakian, Nick Spicer and ScreenAnarchy boss Todd Brown are producing for XYZ Films. Production is set to begin this Spring.
Evans' The Raid 2 Berandal and Tjahjanto's Killers both have their World Premieres at Sundance this week.
