SoundKilda 2013 Awards: Darcy and Shanks Take Everything
It's nice to back a winner, and it's even nicer to back two. Last week at the SoundKilda music video competition as part of the 2013 St Kilda Film Festival, directors Darcy Prendergast and Michael Shanks -- whom ScreenAnarchy has written volumes about in the last six months -- dominated the awards, taking out the four categories between them and leaving the other 15 or so directors in their wake.

For the second year running, Shanks took out Best Independent Music Video for his Roadgeek clip Towards the Sun (covered here), while Darcy took out the other three categories -- his music video for Gotye's Easy Way Out (featured on ScreenAnarchy here) winning Best Music Video, Best Music Video Animation and the Audience Award, as voted by a packed Astor Theatre.

This comes as a big vindication to Darcy and his massive team at production house Oh Yeah Wow, who really put the hard yards in on the Gotye clip - building a full set and spending 9 months animating the clip. Big props also to producer Nicky Pastore. Check out the winning Gotye clip below.
