Listen to Paul Leonard-Morgan's Fantastic DREDD Score For Free!
The latest big screen adaptation of 2000AD's most famous creation, Judge Dredd, has just hit cinemas here in the UK and if nothing else it completely decimates any memory of Danny Cannon & Sylvester Stallone's abysmal effort of 1995. Dredd 3D, directed by Pete Travis, and written & produced by Alex Garland (The Beach, 28 Days Later, Sunshine), keeps its story simple, yet unleashes a mesmerising combination of audio and visuals that is difficult not to be completely swept up in. The plot of Dredd itself is nothing new, and in fact plays like a Tony Scott-fueled mash-up of The Raid and Robocop, as the Judge (Karl Urban) and his probationary partner, Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) are trapped inside the most dangerous apartment block in all of the postapocalytpic Megalopolis - Mega City One. 200 floors of gun-toting, drug-addled scum stand between the two judges and scarfaced crime boss Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and the only way out is to go all the way to the top.

However, what makes Dredd stand apart from many other blood-splattered shoot-em-ups of recent years is the stunning 3D photography from Academy Award-winning cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle (Slumdog Millionnaire, Antichrist), but also the intoxicating electronic score from Paul Leonard-Morgan. By turns thumping and transcendent, ambient and action-packed, it's an exceptional complement to the film's mood and tempo - and also well worth a listen on its own.

And here's the best part - British website Digital Spy has the whole thing on their site to stream for FREE! Now, truth be told we're a little behind the curve on this one - they've been hosting the soundtrack since 31 August, so there's no telling how much longer it will be up there, but as I write this it is still playing just fine. So, don't delay - click this link right now and check it out!

DREDD 3D has its US Premiere at Fantastic Fest on 20 September, before opening nationwide the following day.
