New CONAN TV Spot Features Swords, Snakes And Bad Acting
Oh, Conan, whatever shall we do with you?
As the August release for Marcus Nispel's Conan draws closer and more materials release I will confess to being slowly won over to the general look of the film. Does it match what I think a Conan film should be? No, not quite, but it's got some style to it and seems to hit the pulpy sword and sorcery sweet spot considerably better than did the recent Clash Of The Titans redo. But that's just the look of it. And every time Jason Momoa opens his mouth it kind of falls apart.
The new TV spot for the film is no different. There's some new footage in there, the villain looks pretty satisfying, but Momoa just doesn't have the right sort of gravity to him to be able to pull off these lines. The problem with doing big screen fantasy is that there's a certain cheese factor inherent to the genre that can only be overcome by actors with immense personal charisma. And Momoa, in my opinion, just doesn't have enough. Check it below.
