'The Millenium Bug': Y2K, Hillbillies and Man-in-suit!
For the past couple days Captain Awesome has been teasing our inboxes [waitaminute... that sounds... oh never mind] hinting that something very special was coming. Something big from the indie film scene. Literally big.
And here it is The Millennium Bug, the independent backwoods hillbilly kaiju splatter horror film that we've been dreaming of. Apparently.
The trailer is embedded after the break and we want you to go watch it first then come back for more... ... ... [drums fingers on desktop waiting]... Back? Let's forge on. Everything you saw in that trailer was without the aid of computer effects. Everything was practical effects. Copious bodily fluids. Miniature sets. And a genuine Man-in-suit Millennium Bug. Something like this could get a lot, A LOT, of mileage out of midnight programs at festivals this year! It's December 31st, 1999, and the world anxiously awaits the year 2000. Hoping to escape the Y2K computer glitch known as the "millennium bug", Byron Haskin takes his new wife and teenage daughter camping in the isolated Sierra Diablos mountains. But madness finds them in the form of the Crawford clan, a family of in-bred hillbillies who abduct the Haskins in order to refresh their stagnant gene pool. As the Haskins fight for their lives, death and bloody carnage ensue, but neither they nor the Crawfords are aware of the monstrous horror hibernating beneath the forest floor. Unseen for 1,000 years, this millennium bug is hungry... and December 31st just happens to be its birthday.
