Paul Rudd Gets Dumber As He Gets Hairier. Trailer Arrives For OUR IDIOT BROTHER
I confess to being somewhat confused by the idea of Paul Rudd as a leading man. While I find him pleasant enough and funny enough is support parts there also just seems to be a certain sort of blandness to him that I find unengaging. That he works as a secondary player is beyond dispute at this point but it's hard to picture a mass audience coming out for a film where Rudd is the main drawing card.

And yet there he is as the lead of Jesse Peretz's Our Idiot Brother - a film that was one of the most high profile studio pickups when it debuted at Sundance as My Idiot Brother. Here's how the festival described it:

Despite looking for the good in every situation and the best in every person, Ned always seems to find himself holding the short end of the stick--being conned into selling pot to a uniformed cop, being dumped by his girlfriend, and worse yet, losing custody of his beloved dog, Willie Nelson. When he turns to family, he is passed from sister to sister while he gets back on his feet. Ned's best intentions produce hilariously disastrous results, bringing the family to the cusp of chaos and ultimately the brink of clarity.
The secondary cast in this one is more appealing than the lead - Emily Mortimer, Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel, Hugh Dancy and Steve Coogan all star, though once again it appears that Coogan's prodigious talents are being wasted - but the trailer is good for a giggle. Check it below.
