SHAOLIN SOCCER Star Danny Chan Takes The Lead In SPIRIT OF FIGHT
Keep your eyes open for upcoming Singapore based martial arts picture Spirit Of Fight. Because if the recently released promo reel for the picture is any indication the film could very well push Danny Chan over the hump and make a major international action star out of him.

Though the film is still very much in early days and information is sketchy - there's not even a clear statement of who is directing the thing - here's what we know.

Inspired at least partially by the anniversary of Bruce Lee's death the film is a tournament style fight film set in the world of international mixed martial arts. Taking the lead is Danny Chan, whose resemblance to Bruce Lee led to a high profile support part in Stephen Chow's Shaolin Soccer, the lead in television series The Legend Of Bruce Lee and a handful of other supporting roles in recent feature films. And Chan doesn't just look like Lee, he's also trained in the fight discipline Lee created - jeet kune do.

With production slated to begin in 2011 the producers have created a lengthy promo reel to prove that they've got what it takes to pull this off. And they absolutely do. The camera work is excellent, the range of fighters and styles looks compelling and Chan himself is a natural presence on screen. He's one of those guys the camera just likes - important in the quieter, dramatic moments - while his fight skills are also obvious. Is this the blossoming of a new talent on the fight scene? Take a look at the reel below and judge for yourself.
