EAT YOUR HEART OUT! ALIEN ANTHOLOGY CONTEST WINNERS!!

Hi Guys,

Sorry to announce this so late. I've been on a learning curve with the picture aspect of the site. The winners have already been notified and the prizes are on their way. Huge response to this contest. I did my best to keep up with entries as they came in so the final judging wouldn't be so overwhelming but even then it was hard.  We got original artwork, a short film, haikus out the wazoo, memories of favorite and first time screenings and even a memorial to a family member. We got music, sculpture, some very funny cartoons and someone even sacrificed their pet.

I got smiles out of it everyday, so thanks to everyone who entered.

In the end it seemed clear who had really poured on the steam for this thing. I chose the winners on the basis of originality and the sheer Wow! factor I felt as I went through all these. I also got enough entries that were created specifically for the contest to end up sticking with that as a criteria as well. Either way the three chosen easily represent the best most creative stuff I got. In the end it was Don Hill's  piece of original soundscape Billy vs. The Xenomorphs, a pastry entry in the form of chestburster cupcakes from Mike Charlton, and an incredible Alien Warrior mosaic made up of 10,000 separate Alien franchise film stills from that carried the day.

Like I said, Im still trying to figure the pics and labels portion of the blog so everything isn't labelled by name . But I hope you enjoy it. Thanks to everyone who entered.

First up, some free verse

If I had a cat I would name it Jonsie.

If I had a dog I would name it Ripley.

If I had a kid I would nickname it Newt.

If I had a wife I would yell out Sigourney Weaver's name during sex.

If I had a car that didn't suck I would call it the Nostromo.

If I had a job it would be with Weyland Yutani.

If I had a life I wouldn't be entering this competition.

But I have none of these things.

All I have are my Alien dvd's, which for now, are enough to fill the vast emptiness of space that fills my soul.
