U.S. rights for 'Bodyguards and Assassins' goes to Indomina!
Indomina is just rolling along picking up HK flicks for U.S. distribution. Their most recent acquisition is Bodyguards and Assassins. Boasting a large ensemble cast with impressive production values it has played at numerous festivals in North America but will soon be available for all to see now. LOS ANGELES, (October 18, 2010) - Indomina Releasing, a new distributor of feature films, acquired all US rights to the Hong Kong box office hit BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS from international sales agent, We Distribution.  BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS, starring martial artist and Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen (Ip Man, Hero) and Leon Lai (Seven Swords), was directed by Teddy Chen, written by Tin Nam Chun, Junli Guo, Bing Wu and James Yuen and produced by Peter Ho-Sun Chan and Jianxin Huang.  The deal was negotiated by Indomina Releasing's Vice President of Acquisitions Rob Williams and We Distribution's Executive Vice President Katherine Lee on behalf of the filmmakers. The deal was announced today by Jasbinder Singh Mann, C.E.O. of Indomina Group, overseeing global operations.  

"BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS is an epic martial arts thriller, delivering intense fighting sequences and nonstop action," said Singh Mann.  "This film defines the Indomina brand, and we are proud to bring this film to the United States."

"We trust Indomina will inject new life into the distribution of Asian films in North America," said Producer Peter Ho-Sun Chan. "BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS has proven its weight in Asia, and I believe the US audience will welcome the film with the same enthusiasm and excitement."

Set in Hong Kong in 1906, BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS follows a motley crew of five men and women fighting for freedom and democracy.  In this action-packed martial arts film, the gang must work together to protect the man destined to lead them to a new, modern China from a group of deadly assassins.  They must act with their courage, strength and conscience and ignite a revolution.

BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS opened in theatres in Asian territories with great success, grossing $50 million.  The film's solid performances, great directing and high production value, creating the biggest 1:1 scale set in Hong Kong, made BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS one of the most honored films in Asia.  It swept the 29th Annual Hong Kong Film Awards with 18 nominations, winning Best Film, Best Director (Teddy Chen), Best Supporting Actor (Nicholas Tse), Best Cinematography (Arthur Wong), Best Art Direction (Ken Mak), Best Costume/Make Up Design (Dora Ng Li-lo), Best Action Choreography (Stephen Tung Wai and Lee Tat-chiu) and Best Original Film Score (Chan Kwong Wing and Peter Kam).  The movie also won the honor of Film of Merit and Best Actor (Wang Xueqi) at the 16th Annual Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards and Best Actor (Wang Xueqi) and Best Supporting Actor (Nicholas Tse) at the 4th Annual Asian Film Awards.

Indomina Releasing also recently acquired Griff the Invisible (Ryan Kwanten, Maeve Dermody), Wasted on the Young (Oliver Ackland, Alelaide Clemens, Alex Russell), True Legend (Vincent Zhao, Zhou Xun, Michelle Yeoh, David Carradine) and Fire of Conscience (Leon Lai, Richie Ren).
