Dirk Gently To Find Lost Cats On BBC4
Oh, if only this had happened while author Douglas Adams was still around to come up with more stories.

BBC4 will air a one off, one hour long adaptation of the Hitchhiker's Guide To the Galaxy author's other classic, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, in their fall / winter season. No cast announced yet but the man behind the adaptation is Howard Overman, who also wrote Misfits and Vexed.

To put it in the most basic terms possible, I adore Dirk Gently. I practice zen navigation on a regular basis and damn if he wasn't right. And I think - in the hands of the right director - the character is by far the most visual and adaptable that Adams ever created. It is certainly a far, far easier road to take Dirk Gently to the screen than it ever was to bring Ford Prefect, Zaphod Beeblebrox, Arther Dent and the rest of the Hitchhiker crew - created, as they were for a radio serial and therefore incredibly disjointed. If the one off is a success an ongoing series is a very distinct possibility. Fingers crossed for a good cast and director ...
