Dear Mr Johnson: Less TOOTH FAIRY, More FASTER, Please.

Why do I care at all about Faster? Simply put because Dwayne Johnson is, in my mind, the single greatest hope for American action films and a guy who has been entirely wasting his talents with a non-stop stream of mediocre family comedies for the last several years. The man's got charisma to burn, he's proven to be a surprisingly solid dramatic performer and - no surprise here - he's got action chops to burn. He's had 'action star' branded on him from day one which is, perhaps, why he's been resistant to the genre and eager to prove himself in other fields from very early on but it's just wrong that the only really good action flick on this guy's resume is The Rundown.

Will Faster be good action flick number two for Johnson? I have no idea but I'm a damn sight happier to see him in this than in The Tooth Fairy. Shudder.
