Carl Erik Rinsch finally get a studio sci fi project. Remaking 'Logan's Run'.
A while back last November Carl Erik Rinsch popped up on our radar because he was attached to helm Universal's 47 Ronin with Keanu 'Woah' Reeves. Around the same time people started talking about him going behind the lens for the new Alien prequel which Ridley Scott took back for himself. Then a couple months ago we posted a short he did for Phillips televisions while he was part of Scott's commercial firm. We were instantly blown away by his contribution The Gift and Todd said...

Rinsch was the original choice to direct the upcoming Alien prequel before Scott took that over himself and, based on this, it's very easy to see why he was the chosen one. The man has serious skills. But, just as was the case with Neil Blomkamp losing the Halo movie, I have a hunch this may turn out for the best because having seen Rinsch's work I'd much rather see him free to pursue his own instincts than have to play in someone else's sandbox.

And now it has been announced that Carl Erik Rinsch will direct the remake of Logan's Run. Suddenly Rinsch finds himself the director of three studio titles: both 47 Ronin and Creature from the Black Lagoon are in pre-production but the reason why I like this new assignment the most is it would appear to be more in tune with the type of futuristic vision that Rinsch has displayed in his career as a commercial director. Fitting for the futuristic storyline of Logan's Run.

But let's hope it sticks because this project has been passed around like a 'lot lizard' as one of my friends would put in trucker vernacular. At any one time Bryan Singer, Robert Schwenke (Flightplan), James McTeigue (Ninja Assassin), and Joseph Kosinski (Tron Legacy) were attached to this project. They must have caught movie cooties or something.
