Kankuro Kudo Takes On Both Stage And Screen With KAGEROU TOUGE
Say this for popular Japanese playwright / comedian / musician / screen writer Kankuro Kudo: The man likes to keep busy.  In the headlines here at ScreenAnarchy yesterday thanks to the first teaser for Zebraman 2 - which he wrote - hitting the web, he's back today with Kagerou Touge.  This one's a bit more complicated to explain ...

Written as a theatrical production directed by Inoue Hidenori and performed by Inoue's popular Gekidan★Shinkansen theatrical troupe, live performances have now been filmed, edited together, and augmented with souped up music and animation pieces to create a nearly three hour theatrical film release.

Now, when you hear live theater, you may be thinking something rather placid and staid.  Something a little boring.  Not so where Inoue is concerned, his troupe known for a signature style that feels like live manga and has spawned it's own theatrical genre known as Inoue Kabuki.  As an example, the troupe's regular writer is Nakashima Kazuki, who scripted both the theatrical and film versions of Ashura.  And with Kudo's involvement they're amping that style up even more to create something the press material is calling Inoue Kabuki Punk.  This is not your parents' live theater.

But why explain when you can show?  The trailer lies below.
