The Director Of ARK Goes Dystopic With 36 STAIRS
As any regular reader of this site will know, we are very outspoken fans of Polish animation and effects house Platige Image around these parts and a big part of our attraction to Platige is the work of writer-director-animator Grzegorz Jonkajtys.  The director of Cannes-selected animated short Ark, Jonkajtys has also contributed effects work to films such as Hellboy, Sin City, Terminator Salvation and Pan's Labyrinth, so you know he's got the goods.  And now he's connected with US based producer Philip Koch to create a new live action short, 36 Stairs.

A grim, dystopic vision of the future, 36 Stairs posits a world so corrupted by pollution that humanity has become entirely dependent on bio-mechanical alterations to their own bodies to survive and the greatest threat comes not from external invasion but the possibility of having your health insurance revoked.  Bleak and darkly comic, this looks to be just stunningly realized stuff.  Check the trailer below!
