Meet The Young John Lennon In NOWHERE BOY!

In the world of rock and roll does it get any more iconic than Beatles founder John Lennon?  I very much think not and therefore I do not envy Sam Taylor Wood the position she found herself in when she agreed to direct Nowhere Boy. 

A biopic revolving around the teen years of Lennon's life, Nowhere Boy has the undeniable benefit of a legion of global fans ready to lap this up if it proves worthy.  The flip side of this, of course, is that should Wood take even the smallest step wrong she will have millions of fans waiting to point out every single error.  And somehow, under that sort of scrutiny she has to also make a film that provides some interesting drama.

Releasing in the UK on Christmas Day - it appears, surprisingly, to be without North American distribution so far - the first trailer for Nowhere Boy has just arrived and if the film lives up to this than Wood may now officially breath a sigh of relief.  Because this looks very good indeed.  The period detail is spot on and Lennon himself plays like a full, proper flesh and blood character rather than like the pop icon he has become.  Check it below!
