Norwegian slasher film 'Cold Prey' coming out on R1 DVD thanks to Anchor Bay!!!
Ooh. This is very good news. The Norwegian slasher film COLD PREY is coming to domestic DVD on January 20, 2009. We certainly do like it around these parts and we hope for more of the same from the sequel. But Cold Prey was one of the first European modern horror films to answer the question if the Europeans can bring their A-game to the international horror scene. A lot of North American projects would kill to come across as good as this film did. Now, as far as slasher films go, Cold Prey did shy away from copious amounts of blood and gore but it more than made up for it with good looks and plenty of 'safe' but thrilling slasher action. The good folk over at Anchor Bay Entertainment are releasing this gem of an international horror film. This is unconfirmed but Todd is pretty sure that the extra features on this release are better than the original DVD release.

It’s midwinter. Five youngsters are heading for the Jotunheimen mountain area to go snowboarding. On the slope, one of them has a bad fall and breaks a leg. There is no sign of any other people around, and their mobile phones are out of range.
They catch sight of a mountain hotel in the distance, and decide to find shelter there. The hotel lies empty and silent, obviously closed down years ago. The phone lines are dead, and the youngsters realize they have to spend the night in the hotel. But it turns out they’re not alone. In the basement they discover a filthy dungeon of a room, where somebody has recently lived…
