Anno Hideaki's much anticipated "Evangelion Shin Gekijouban/Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone" debuts this weekend to impressive numbers and easily captures the No. 1 spot in Japan. Last week's No. 1 "Rush Hour 3" plummets from the top five to 7th place. Shinjou Takehiko's "Tengoku De Kimi Ni Aetara" continues to hold strong at No. 2 as does "Harry Potter" (No. 3) and "Ocean's 13" (No. 4).
Notable movies soon to be hitting theaters in Japan include Miike Takashi's spaghetti western "Sukiyaki Western Django" (9/24), Aoyama Shinji's "Sad Vacation" (9/8) and Julien Temple's "London Calling: The Life of Joe Strummer" (Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten; 9/8).
