First Trailer For The Oshii-Supervised Omnibus SHIN ONNA TACHIGUISHI RETSUDEN

After the ultra-serious and very, very dense Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, anime auteur Mamoru Oshii decided to take a little break and do something entirely different. Which meant, of course, that he made a very odd little film called Tachiguishi Retsuden about legendary dine and dash artists throughout Japan, a film which incidentally is still completely unavailable in any sort of English friendly release anywhere in the world, an oversight I'd very much like someone to take care of. Oshii's back into large scale production now with The Sky Crawlers but that doesn't mean he's about to let his Fast Food Grifters fade away and starve. Nope. Instead he has supervised an omnibus project set in the same world, the first trailer for which has just arrived. The style on this drifts pretty far away from Oshii's original take - it's dominantly live action, for one thing - but I'm pretty fascinated to see what they've cooked up this time ...
