(Note: "Wrestlemaniac" is the new title of the movie in question, "El Mascarado Massacre" was its original title, and "The Mexican Porn Massacre" was its working title.) The movie had its world première at the Hollywood Film Festival (HFF) on October 20th of last year. It's scheduled to be screened at the AFI Dallas International Film Festival (AFIDIFF) on March 30th and 31st. Lightning Entertainment Inc. is the international sales agent for it.
The screenplay for Wrestlemaniac was written by Baget. The movie stars (listed order corresponds to order in third trailer) Rey Misterio Sr. as El Mascarado, Irwin Keyes as The Stranger, Leyla Milani as Dallas, Adam Huss as Alfonse, Jeremy Radin as Steve, Margaret Scarborough as Debbie, Zack Bennett as Jimbo, and Catherine Wreford as Daisy.
Here's a synopsis for Wrestlemaniac from Lightning Entertainment's website: "An amateur movie director, Alfonse, his crew and beautiful cast are driving to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to shoot a low-budget film. They get lost and happen upon a hidden ghost town called 'La Sangre de Dios'. The town is known for it's spine-tingling legend about an insane Mexican wrestler, El Mascarado (The Masked Man), who was created by the President of Mexico for the 1984 Olympics. Alfonse likes the town's gritty appearance, and decides it's the perfect location for his film. The crew positions the camera, snaps on the lights, and Alfonse yells 'Action!'... arousing the famous Luchador. El Mascarado begins a horrifying game of his own, and one by one the cast and crew are stalked, beaten, and maimed in a series of horrifying death matches. Now the few left alive must figure out how to beat the wrestler at his own game... or die trying!!!"
