A Twenty Minute Promo For Carl Zhang's Lovers

Back at the beginning of April we posted a link to the first trailer for Lovers, the debut feature by Carl Zhang, a twenty year old film maker who splits time between Shanghai and Melbourne. That trailer boasted some mighty impressive film work and Zhang has just dropped a line steering the way to a whopping twenty minute promo reel of footage from the film.
Zhang is still playing somewhat coy about plot particulars, but he has offered that "the story itself revolves around a young woman, previously hurt from love, to the point where she wonders around the streets of Shanghai photographing "lovers", from a distance. This is how she lives her relationships; one failed one after the other. One night, a photographer from overseas lands in Shanghai for his first exhibition . . .and that night, the two of them will meet at that same gallery."
Wong Kar Wai best be watching his back, because Zhang has an absolutely impeccable eye and sense of mood. Not much of a sense of the script from this, but in terms of visuals, pacing and tone? Damn.
