A new 'making of' (mekingu) short has just been added here (Windows Media) and there (RealMedia) to the official website for Jun'ya Satô's Yamato (Otoko-tachi no Yamato). Also, four more stills of the film's battleship set have been added to the website of Raku Film Y.K. (Y.K. Rakuei-sha).

As was previously reported on ScreenAnarchy, principal photography for Yamato began on March 26 in Hiroshima Prefecture's Mukaishima Town - which, two days later, merged with and into Onomichi City. The budget for the film reportedly is ¥1.5 billion (approx. $14 million U.S.); construction of the battleship set - which is as wide as the actual ship was, and apparently will, when completed, be about 3/4 as long - reportedly has already cost ¥600 million (approx. $5.5 million U.S.).

Yamato is based on Jun Henmi's non-fiction books Ketteiban otoko-tachi no Yamato (ue) and Ketteiban otoko-tachi no Yamato (shita). Starring in it are Takashi Sorimachi, Shidô Nakamura (Nakamura Shidou), Jundai Yamada, Ken'ichi Matsuyama, Dai Watanabe, Hiromi Sakimoto, Kenta Uchino, Ryô Hashizume (Hashidume Ryou), Kyôka Suzuki (Suzuki Kyouka), and Tatsuya Nakadai.
