TRANSFORMERS - THE MOVIE: Shout! Factory And Hasbro Will Release The Animated Classic On Blu-ray
When afternoon cartoon franchises made the move to animated feature films in the 80s they were sort of revelatory when they took big steps.
Example, when my brother and I were watching G.I. Joe The Movie in 1987 we wigged out because they were changing clips on their guns and there were shell casings flying through the air (we sought such silly authenticity).
However, and more importantly, the year before that in 1986 we saw Transformers The Movie and lost our shit when we saw Autobots dying on screen. Big, bold moves in the eyes of a kid who would rush home after school to watch sanitized action heroes never take a hit all half hour long.
And now, one of North America's great boutique labels, Shout! Factory, is bringing the animated classic back for its 30th anniversary for the first time ever on Blu Ray in September.
Shout! Factory, a multi-platform media company, and Hasbro Studios announced a strategic distribution collaboration to bring the iconic animated feature, TRANSFORMERS – THE MOVIE to the home entertainment marketplace in the U.S. and Canada. This full-length animated adventure boasts the voice talent of Orson Welles in his final role and an all-star voice cast that includes Peter Cullen, Eric Idle, Casey Kasem, Judd Nelson, Leonard Nimoy, Robert Stack and Frank Welker.The multi-year alliance provides Shout! Factory with exclusive home entertainment packaged media (Blu-ray and DVD) and select digital rights to Hasbro’s TRANSFORMERS – THE MOVIE for home entertainment releases in North America. In honor of the 30th anniversary of TRANSFORMERS – THE MOVIE, this beloved animated feature will be newly remastered and transferred in HD from the original 35mm elements. A full-range of bonus content and collectible packaging are currently in development. Shout!
