Hypnotic & Freaky International Trailer For Park Chan-wook's THE HANDMAIDEN
We've already seen a few promos for Park Chan-wook's Cannes-bound The Handmaiden but this new international trailer really delivers the goods. Hypnotic, weird and gorgeous, the film looks to offer what we love about the flimmaker's style in spades, but there's also something there we haven't quite seen before.
The film stars Ha Jung-woo (The Chaser) and Kim Min-hee (Helpless) and tells the story of a conman who plants a maid in a wealthy heiress' household in Korea during the Japanese occupation in the first half of the 20th century.
The film debuts on May 14th In Competition at Cannes, and unlike most Korean films you probably won't have to wait too long to see it as Amazon has picked it up for North America and it's sold to well over 100 distributors around the world.
Between this, the excellent new trailer for Train to Busan and the local media reception of Na Hong-jin's The Wailing (though we've seen it we can't talk about it yet, but safe to say you'll be hearing A LOT about this one soon), Korean cinema is looking to be mighty special in May 2016.
