Elle Fanning And Diego Luna Join Sci-fi Pic IO
Deadline is reporting that Elle Fanning (Maleficent and The Night Demon) and Diego Luna (The Book of Life and Elysium) will star in Clay Jeter's upcoming sci-fi flick IO. Fanning will play one of the last survivor's on a post-cataclysmic Earth. In a race against time she is searching for a cure for the dying planet before the last shuttle leaves her stranded. Luna will play a refugee on the way to the launch who makes her question if she can save the planet or not.
"We are so excited for Elle to bring her charisma and fearlessness to the demanding role of the tragically obsessed idealist Sam," said Jeter. "And Diego's chameleon-like versatility makes him a perfect choice for the secretive and enigmatic Micah. I'm really looking forward to a creative collaboration with these incredibly talented and committed actors to bring the characters of IO to life".
Jeter wrote the screenplay with Will Basanta (Jess + Moss) and Charles Spano. IO is a project that began its life at the Sundance Institute's Writers Lab and Sundance Catalyst Forum. Jeter's feature film Jess + Moss played at Sundance in 2011.
