Thai Posters For Classic Cult Films Are True Works Of Art
Home to one of the oldest film industries in the world Thailand is also notable for the fact that for decades all of their movie posters were painted by hand. Thai films, Hong Kong films, Hollywood films, it made no difference. They all got unique art created specifically for the Thai audience.
In recent years a small handful of the artists responsible for creating these posters have started to be recognized as the artists that they were with their work starting to turn up in gallery shows. Wise Kwai's Thai Film Journal brings word of one such show that just wrapped at the Bangkok Art And Culture Center, showcasing the work of Chawana Boonchoo. And a number of those pieces have now turned up online.
