Robert Zemeckis Returns To Live Action With FLIGHT
After a long foray into the world of motion capture, director Robert Zemeckis returns to live action filmmaking with the Denzel Washington star vehicle Flight, with his first live action film since 2000's Cast Away.
In this action-packed mystery thriller, Academy Award winner Denzel Washington stars as Whip Whitaker, a seasoned airline pilot who miraculously crash-lands his plane after a mid-air catastrophe, saving nearly every soul on board. After the crash, Whip is hailed as a hero, but as more is learned, more questions than answers arise as to who or what was really at fault, and what really happened on that plane?
The first trailer for this one has appeared online and it feels as though Zemeckis hasn't missed a beat. This ticks all of the typical later period Zemeckis boxes in that it's big, populist, star driven entertainment with enough technical and dramatic flash to capture a bit of awards attention.
