Marko Zaror Joins THE RAID Team for Mo Brothers Mayhem!
Word has broken over at Indiewire that XYZ Films looks to continue the phenomenal success it is currently enjoying around the world with Gareth Evans' The Raid by putting two more Indonesian action films into production just as soon as they have finished shooting Raid sequel Berandal. Both projects, The Night Comes For Us and One Good Thing, are co-productions with Evans' own company, PT Merantau Films, but the most exciting part is who will be involved.

The Night Comes For Us is a neo-noir hitman thriller co-penned by Evans and Timo Tjahjanto, who will also direct, and starring Joe Taslim and Yayan Ruhian from The Raid. Director Tjahjanto makes up one half of the Mo Brothers, who directed horror flick Macabre back in 2009, and this marks his solo directorial debut.

The same goes for fellow Mo brother Kimo Stamboel, who will be at the helm of One Good Thing. This project gives us at ScreenAnarchy particular cause for celebration as it has been written by none other than our all-knowing overlord Todd Brown, who also makes up one quarter of the XYZ team along with Aram Tertzakian, Nathaniel Bolotin and Nick Spicer. One Good Thing is the story of a reluctant mob enforcer and a police officer who team up to protect a young girl caught between rival gangs at war with a squad of corrupt cops. Yayan Ruhian will star alongside Chilean martial arts superstar Marko Zaror (Kiltro, Mandrill, Undisputed III) in what promises to be one of the most mouth-watering action pairings in recent memory.

Speaking to Indiewire, Todd had this to say about the news:

"Through the process of working with Gareth on The Raid -- and Merantau prior to that -- he has become a close friend as well as a business partner. And when you have a good friend as talented as Gareth, with access to fabulous crews and a stable of immensely entertaining action stars, you take every opportunity to expand that relationship. We believe Indonesia is poised to become a major player in international genre film with a coming wave of talented directors and stars such as Joe Taslim and Yayan Ruhian having as much potential as The Raid's Iko Uwais, and we're excited to be part of bringing them to the world."

He's not the only one. This is fantastic news in anyone's book, but for us here at ScreenAnarchy it is especially exciting. On behalf of all of us - congratulations Todd! Just don't expect to get a pass come review time!
