BULLHEAD bags 9 Nominations at Belgian Film Awards
There is a lot of love for Belgian director Michael R. Roskam and his stunning debut BULLHEAD round these parts, but we are far from alone in regarding his operatic crime saga within the Flemish cattle trade as one of the year's finest debuts. After cleaning up at this year's Fantastic Fest New Wave Awards, and at Belgium's Flemish Film Awards, the nominations for Belgium's French Film Awards - known as Les Magritte du Cinema - have been announced, with BULLHEAD (aka TETE DE BOEUF - RUNDSKOP) named in nine categories.

Les Magritte are in only their second year, and cater specifically to the French-speaking area of the country, Wallonia. They may still be in their infancy but already they are showing that they have fine taste. While missing out in the Best Film and Best Director categories because of these linguistic restrictions, BULLHEAD has been nominated for the following awards:

Best Flemish Co-Production
Best Actor - Matthias Schoernaerts
Best Screenplay - Michael R. Roskam
Most Promising Female - Jeanne Dandoy
Most Promising Male - David Murgia
Best Cinematography
Best Sound
Best Editing
Best Original Score

There is stiff competition in many categories from the Dardennes' brothers' THE KID WITH A BIKE (aka LE GAMIN AU VELO) - which BULLHEAD has already beaten to be Belgium's official entry in this year's Academy Awards. We must wait until 4 February to see who comes out victorious, but for this incredible achievement alone we send Michael and his crew our most heartfelt congratulations!
