Hammer Legend JIMMY SANGSTER Passes Away At 83
Jimmy Sangster, the man who wrote the screenplays for Curse Of Frankenstein, and Dracula, for Hammer Studios, has passed away at age 83.
The two aforementioned versions of the venerated classics not only saved the archaic production house from imminent collapse, but turned it around on it's heel  almost overnight, and into an immediate hit factory.
Sangster wrote many of my personal favorites in the classic Hammer horror cycle, including The Mummy, Brides Of Dracula, and Dracula: Prince Of Darkness.
Later, he donned the monocle and stepped up behind the camera as a director, helming the Horror Of Frankenstein, and Lust For A Vampire.
The horror-meister also came to the USA and wrote for some of our most beloved genre shows, such as The Night Stalker, Ghost Story (find this series people, it's one of the creepiest 70's telehorror offerings there is), Wonder Woman, and The Six Million Dollar Man.
A workhorse, and true braintrust as far as horror cinema is concerned, Mr. Sangster will be missed by friends, fans, and family. He is survived by his son Mark James Sangster, and his two grandchildren Claire and Ian.

Thanks for all the wonderfully creepy good times you gave us with your Gothic horrors, full of fangs. blood, and bosoms Mr. Sangster. The mark you have left on the genre is deeper than any vampires bite, and has infected millions more than the Transylvanian whose legend you helped keep alive.

With respect...
