THE INBETWEENERS Teaser Is One For The Fans
If you're not already a fan of The Inbetweeners - a sitcom that ran for three seasons on the UK's Channel 4 - then I wouldn't expect to glean a whole lot from the just released teaser for The Inbetweeners Movie. I'm sure they'll get around to pitching it to people like you eventually, but for the time being they are clearly content just to talk to already existing fans. I happen to be one.
For the uninitiated The Inbetweeners revolves around Will - he's the guy on the right in the picture - a young man used to living a privileged life until his parents divorce and he's tossed into normal school for the first time in his life. There he meets Simon, Neil and Jay. It's a show about the awkwardness of being in between childhood and adult life, that awkwardness largely explored through binge drinking, vomit, clumsy social interactions and trying to get laid. Cue the move into moviedom.
As good as The Inbetweeners is - while I personally find the show inconsistent, the funny stuff is brilliant - the simple fact is that it's a premise with a limited shelf life. The actors aren't going to be in between for much longer, after all, and have already visibly aged a good amount from Series One. So they're going out with a bang. Hopefully literally. They've packed up and gone to Malia in Crete for a holiday, where .. you know. Cue previous bang joke.
The first teaser arrived on the show's Facebook page yesterday and you can check it out below.
