Shu Qi is ready for her extreme close-up, Mr. deMille!

Some will say she's one of the most beautiful women in the world, some will say she looks like an alien salamander. Either way her looks are stunning.

Me, I fall more into the first camp while, granted, the part in me which agrees with the second camp only makes her all the more fascinating. Hearing her name attached to a production always makes me perk up a bit.

Moving swiftly as a teen from sports into modeling (also of, you know, THAT kind), into Category III territory, out of it again, becoming a muse of sorts for famous director Hou Hsiao-Hsien and even turning up in Western mainstream films, the athletic beauty's career has been nothing if not fascinating. Acting-wise history has shown Shu Qi can be very effective when used correctly and by now she has a nice array of acting awards to prove it.

So once again I'm going to use a turn in the ScreenAnarchy-O-Meter to do a gallery of 5 close-ups of one of my favorite thespians. Guess which movies they're from.
