Christopher Nolan Wants JAMES BOND.
... And all the hysteria surrounding the future of the James Bond franchise just got a whole lot more interesting. With this wildly inaccurate 'Bond is dead' talk sweeping the internet as though it is fact - which it absolutely is not, MGM just can't afford to make it right now. Bond will continue whether with them or with someone else, it's just going to take a little bit of time - one very intriguing wrinkle has just come to the surface. Christopher Nolan is now on record saying he wants to direct a James Bond film.
Umm ... yes? Please?
The spill over of the ongoing MGM collapse for this particular franchise - which is controlled by the producers, by the way, NOT the studio, so it'll live on just fine no matter what the end of the studio situation is - is an indefinite delay that will almost certainly cost the next film the services of director Sam Mendes and possibly the services of star Daniel Craig. Personally I hope they keep Craig but won't be at all sad if Mendes goes, provided they can replace him with someone like Christopher Nolan. Nolan has already said outright that his approach to action in Inception was hugely influenced by the Bond films so why not give him a shot at the real thing?
