First Images From Alex De La Iglesia's A SAD TRUMPET BALLAD
Though Alex de la Iglesia's The Oxford Murders was one of the bigger letdowns of its year there's no doubt whatsoever that the man behind it is one of the most inventive and visually challenging directors in the world. Though Iglesia is known to jump from genre his work is always distinctively his own. There's simply nobody else quite like him. And for his new effort - A Sad Trumpet Ballad - Iglesia is going to war. With clowns. In love. Here's how sales agents Films Distribution describe it:

1937 Spanish civil war, Javier and Sergio, two circus clowns are in love with the same woman, a dancer. They are recruited by force to join the militia and the butchery starts as they are still in their clown costume.
Not so much of a synopsis, really, but if you want the true Iglesia experience you want to go visual, not written word and so I direct you to the gallery of eleven fantastic stills below.
