Baran Bo Odar's German Thriller DAS LATZTE SCHWEIGEN Impresses.
Mmm, very nice indeed. Baran Bo Odar's Das Letzte Schweigen not only continues the odd trend of Danish actors appearing in German thrillers - Mads Mikkelsen in The Door, Ulrich Thomsen in this one - but also just plain impresses with its impeccable atmosphere and slowly building dread.

With a story revolving around kidnappings and killings of young girls over a span of decades it's hard not to compare to recent UK effort Red Riding but this looks to go far more for arthouse chills than Red Riding's crime-noir vibe.  Here's the synopsis from the IMDB:

13-year-old Sinikka vanishes on a hot summer night. Her bicycle is found in the exact place where a girl was killed 23 years ago. The dramatic present forces those involved in the original case to face their past.
