Website and Trailer For Hirayama Hideyuki's THREE FOR THE ROAD

I am a total cultural tourist and as such am a sucker for this sort of thing. A comedy set in feudal era Japan, Hirayama Hideyuki's Three For The Road proudly features no samurai whatsoever but does feature the screen debut of kabuki star Nakamura Kanzaburo in a road movie built around the common people of the era and comedic routines passed down through generations. It's been fascinating to see more directors breaking away from the typical samurai drama mold while doing films set in this era recently and this looks to be a good one.
