The Korea Society, as part of its 7th edition of the New York Korean Film Festival, which runs from August 19 through September 2, will be holding a panel discussion about hallyu (the Korean wave). Titled, "Is the Korean Wave Dead? The Next Phase of Korean Pop Culture", panelists will include director Kim Yong-hwa (200 Pound Beauty), Michael Huh (Vice-President, ImaginAsian TV), Robert Cagle (Assistant Professor of cinema studies, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), and Samuel Jamier (Moderator, The Korea Society Film Blog). Kim Yong-hwa will be making other appearances throughout the festival, including the opening party (also this Thursday!) and Q&A sessions. Director Kim Han-min (Paradise Murdered) will also be attending the festival, and holding a Q&A session at the IFC Center on August 28.
