First English-Friendly DVD of Fassbinder's Berlin Alexanderplatz Due Out in October

We've been following this one for quite some time now, from the announcement of its digital restoration to the world premiere of the remastered print at the 57th Berlinale in January, as well as reporting on the reservations of certain viewers concerning the refurbished version (covered at length by the indefatigable DW Hudson). Well, the first English-friendly version of RW Fassbinder's Berlin Alexanderplatz will at last arrive on DVD on October 22nd, giving many viewers their first opportunity to see what some have hailed as the director's masterpiece. Released by Second Sight, the Region-2 6-DVD set will be accompanied by several hours of bonus material, including: "Making of", "A Mega-Movie and Its Story", "The Restoration – Before and After", "Stills and Production Photo Galleries", "The Original Recaps", "Berlinale 2007 Trailer". Oh yeah, Criterion should be coming out with their own set in November.

Pre-Order DVD (Scheduled release date Oct. 22)
