As was previously reported here on ScreenAnarchy, the teleplay for Masters of Horror: Imprint was written by Daisuke Tengan, based on the novel Bokkê, kyôtê (the title of which is in the Okayama dialect of Japanese) by Shimako Iwai. The (made-for-TV) movie stars (in order of appearance) Billy Drago as Christopher, Shihô Harumi as laborer #1, Magy (Magî) as laborer #2, Shin'ichi Tokuhara as laborer #3, Takao Handa as laborer #4 (Yoshi), Hiroshi Kuze as the boatman, Miyuki Konno as the dead woman, Yutaka Matsuzaki as gate keeper #1, Hiroshi Fujita as gate keeper #2, Sachiko Matsuura as the shamisen player, Noriko Eguchi as whore #1, Megumu Takada as whore #2, Yuno as whore #3, Miho Harita as whore #4, Youki Kudoh (Kudô Yûki) as the woman, Toshie Negishi as the madam of the house, Mame Yamada as the touter, Tokitoshi Shiota as the elderly woman, Michie (a.k.a. Michie Itô) as Komomo, Risa Uehara as the girl with blue eyes, Kumiko Imai as the mother, Hôka Kinoshita as the father, Miho Ninagawa as the pregnant woman, Suzuno Nomura as the girl (woman's childhood), Seiryû Ichino as the Buddhist priest, Shin'ichi Tanaka as the pimp, Yasushi Tomobe as the woman's customer, novelist Shimako Iwai (see above) as the torture woman, Katsuyuki Shimosugi as boy #1, Haruo Fukuhara as boy #2, Keita Murase as boy #3, Dong Wook Min as prison guard #1, and Takumi Matsumoto as prison guard #2.

Masters of Horror: Imprint had its world première at the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival 2006 (Yûbari Kokusai Fantasutikku Eigasai 2006) - "YIFFF" for short - in Hokkaido, Japan on February 25th (technically, February 26th) at 1:00 a.m..

Miike's other recent movies include Big Bang Love, Juvenile A (46-okunen no koi) - which had its world première at the 56th Berlin International Film Festival on February 11th - and Waru - which was released theatrically in Japan on February 25th.
